Rebeca Lar (Rebeca López Villar) is a plastic artist and researcher. Graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Vigo with End of Degree Award (2015) and Master in Contemporary Art. Creation and Research (2016). Currently, she is finishing her doctoral studies, as well as the Master in Teaching (UVigo) and the Degree in Spanish Language and Literature (UNED).
Her theoretical-artistic lines of research focus on language, memory and gender studies. During the completion of her doctoral thesis, which deals with the figure of the witch in contemporary audiovisualcreation, she has developed a series of feminist works with the female witch as a conceptual framework. Thus, she has exhibited individually in various spaces in the Galician context and has participated in group shows at the international level.
In her artistic and research career she has obtained various awards in the fields of contemporary art, poetry, essays, painting, sculpture, photography and research with a gender perspective.Her most recent projects are supported by the artistic creation grants Injuve (Ministerio de Derechos Sociales y Agenda 2030) and Novos Valores (Deputación de Pontevedra), and have to do with the traces of historical memory in Galicia.
